Wow......

Time has gone by so fast! Kennedy just had her first birthday a week ago and she has really kept me busy. There has been so many visits to the Doctors and to the Urgent Care and even the ER. Well at about two months old I realized something wasn't right with her neck movement and her head was really flat on one side. I had taken her to the Dr. and they said she is fine and she will grow into it. Well I waited about 2 more months until I finally did something myself. I had taken her to a cranial place where they specialize in cranial reshaping helmets just to get her evaluated. Up until my appointment I was second guessing myself that maybe there isn't something wrong and I am just making something up because nobody really saw anything wrong with her but I decide to just go since it was a free evaluation. Well at that appointment they did imaging and measurements on her and I am so grateful I stuck with the appointment because at the appointment my motherly instincts have been confirmed and she had a 20mm difference between the back sides of her head and it was starting to affect her little facial features. After that appointment I went straight to her pediatrician to get the ball rolling so everything could be covered by the insurance. She had referred me to a physical therapist to be evaluated and then we discovered her left shoulder was dislocated from birth and it has caused her to develop torticolis because she would just cradle her shoulder to protect it from movement. We then had to go to physical therapy twice a week for 8 months. She has graduated from physical therapy but still has torticolis She has gone to see a Neurologist this past Monday and will have an MRI done on her neck and head. She has had the cranial helmet since 4 months old and has made some big progress, there is only a 7 mm difference now and they say normal is 4 mm, so she is almost there. Well her torticollis has caused some vision problems we will see the eye doctor tomorrow to get her some glasses. Kennedy has been the best baby through this all she is the happiest baby although she has to wear a helmet for 23hrs a day she never complains. She brings so much joy and happiness to our family. Although she was a little delayed in her gross motor skills she has really caught up and is very independent and doesn't ever want any help. She loves to do whatever her big sister is doing. She loves to be outside, if I just open a door to let some fresh air come in she is at that door screaming and crying until I take her out. She absolutely loves bath time once she hears the bath water running she comes crawling so fast to the bathroom. She stays up 1hr past her sister just so she can get some one on one time with her mommy and daddy and really enjoys that time as the "only" child. She is so cuddly and loving. She will give you kisses without even asking for them. She loves food, she is the best little eater. I am so grateful Kennedy joined our family although she keeps me busy with at least 1 Dr. appointment a week, she brings us so much love and happiness with her sweet little spirit.
